Core Philosophy: The Seven Key Behaviors
Posted by Chris at September 5th, 2007
The philosophy behind the Tao of the Tethered Coin is simplistic, and at the same time profound. It is simply the accumulated wisdom I have discovered from a variety of sources, the application of which I believe can impact your quality of life and your family’s future tremendously. It works something like this:
THE PRIME DIRECTIVE: LIVE ON LESS THAN YOU MAKE
The Behaviors
- Pay Yourself First (Saving)
- Moderate Your Desires (Frugality)
- Practice Delayed Gratification (Self-Control)
- Understand That Credit Is The Opposite Of Saving (Stay Out Of Debt)
- Ask Yourself The Right Questions (Personal Responsibility & Accountability)
- Don’t Let Money Stand Idle (Investment)
- Plan For The Fact That Things Happen (Long-Term, Big Picture Planning)
I will explore each of these ideas in depth in my book, but each of you could easily explore the same ideas on your own. My journey is not yours, and wisdom you discover on your own is almost always the wisdom that stays with you. Enjoy the ride.
